One Sided Prayer Life

Image

Psalm 29 is the psalm that I would like to focus on today. How is your prayer life? It seems like when we become busy our prayers become shorter and shorter and more to the point. Usually that point is what we need.

“Dear Lord, Please help me at work today, I need money so I can pay my bills, please give me patience with my kids today, help Aunt Suzie get over her sickness, Amen.”

Does that sound familiar? Let me give you another example. When our son was alive most of the time, life revolved around his needs. Dad, I need money, why do I not have a cell phone, I am having trouble with a kid at school, Mom is being unfair, No, I do not want to do that……. and on and on. I do not mind answering him or being there for him, that is why GOD chose me as a parent, but sometimes I would like to just talk to him, no struggle, no wants, just talk back and forth.

There is no way that I am even comparing myself to GOD, but I can imagine that is how GOD feels at times. He LONGS to just talk with you. These psalms are a great way to just talk with GOD. A majority of the psalms are songs and prayers just praising GOD, if you do not spend some of your prayer time praising GOD I would encourage you to do so. We serve such an amazing GOD, if you spend time thinking about HIM, it just humbles you.

Alot of the Psalms were written as prayers and songs to GOD. They were written by men who were seeking the face of GOD, praising GOD, and crying out for help. I believe that we should read them as they were meant to be.

Below is Psalm 29, it is a wonderful psalm praising HIS majesty. Do not read the words, pray them to the LORD!
Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.

The voice of the LORD is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
the LORD, over many waters.
The voice of the LORD is powerful;
the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;
the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf,
and Sirion like a young wild ox.

The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.
The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness;
the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth
and strips the forests bare,
and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

The LORD sits enthroned over the flood;
the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.
May the LORD give strength to his people!
May the LORD bless his people with peace!

God Uses The Ordinary For The Extraordinary

It always amazes me how God uses us: the ordinary, plain, simple, sinful creatures. Today we start a very interesting book; Esther. Interesting in the fact that some say Esther does not belong in our scriptures. Here is why some of the arguments; GOD’s name is not once mentioned in this book, there are no references to spiritual service or prayer in the book, except a reference to fasting (4:15-16). So, one could see the argument….but GOD put the book of Esther in our Bible for a reason, it is our job to find the purpose.

God Uses The Ordinary

God Uses The Ordinary

Here are some other facts before we start this book; the author is unknown, some have suggested Esther or a younger contemporary of Mordecai. Esther was probably written in the middle of the fifth century.

King Xerxes reign was 486 – 464 BC, so the event of Esther took place between that time period.

Bringing the Bible Alive

The Bible is full of inspiring characters. Due to the time period that the Bible was written, it seems like there are more male characters than female characters written in it. That is why it is so nice to study a female Biblical character. I thought it would be nice to list a few of Esther’s traits before we get started:

  • Woman of Beauty (2:7)
  • Self-denial and Heroism (4:16)
  • Tact (5:8)
  • Courage (7:8)
  • Patriotism (8:3-6)

Scripture Reading

When the turn came for Esther the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her as his own daughter, to go in to the king, she asked for nothing except what Hegai the king’s eunuch, who had charge of the women, advised. Now Esther was winning favor in the eyes of all who saw her. And when Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus into his royal palace in the tenth month, which is the month of Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign – Esther 2:15- 16

Thought For the Day

GOD is such an amazing being. HE is the most powerful being in the universe. When you read the Bible you see displays of this awesome power, the parting of the Red Sea, an angel destroying thousands of people, bringing the dead back to life, destroying cities with fires, holding back the oceans from swallowing up the earth, the list goes on and on.

Now, here is the thing that just makes my head spin, this force, this being, with all this power, could do ANYTHING, ANYTHING….. but, HE chooses to do HIS work in us. I am not talking about the well educated, the powerful, the highly religious, (Even though HE does use those types of people) HE uses ordinary, poor, weak, humble…… you and I.

Esther is a wonderful example of God using the ordinary. We just finished reading how he used Nehemiah to do something amazing….. just an ordinary guy. Esther is just an ordinary woman that GOD will use.

If you are following along, Esther in chapter 2 won the favor of the king. GOD was setting her up to do an extraordinary task. In chapter 3 the bad guy makes his plans known, Haman wanted to “Kill and annihilate ALL the Jews – young and old, women and little children (3:13)”. Sounds like Hitler, does it not? We end with our readings there, but I am excited to see how the story lays out, and see how GOD uses this amazing woman.

The point of today’s thought is…… you guessed it, GOD uses the ordinary. GOD wants to use you, to be honest, we are all pretty ordinary in the sight of GOD’s presence. That is great news for all of us, this amazing being WANTS to use you, HE has a task that HE needs you to do. The problem is most of us never grasp this, we are too focused on what we need instead of what GOD needs.

If you want to fulfill your purpose in life, let GOD use you. Let GOD know that you want HIM to use you, tell HIM to lead and direct you, let HIM know that you are HIS servant and you will do whatever HE needs you to do. I will tell you again, to be used by GOD is the most amazing experience you will ever feel. I have seen things in my life….. that just should have not worked out or happened. I am sorry, I get all excited when I start talking about Jesus. 🙂

Have a very Blessed day, and I hope that you join me to see how the story develops. GOD BLESS!!

Closing Prayer

I pray that I continue to seek You and to feel those little nudges You give me so that I can continue to be right by Your side. Father I pray for those that are struggling with the world and knowing how to follow You, I pray that they will have someone in their life come in and help them to see the beauty of You.

I love You and I pray In Jesus Name, Amen.

Are You Committed To Make It Work?

Any Godly project takes work to maintain, are you willing to make it work? Today, we are finishing the book of Nehemiah with chapter 13. If you remember, Jerusalem was destroyed, GOD put it in Nehemiah’s heart to build the wall. After starting the wall they faced severe opposition to the point of death. But, with much prayer and faith the wall was finished in 52 days.

Why Do You Serve Jesus?

Why Do You Serve Jesus?

The city was secure and now the people could focus their attention on GOD, and repair their relationship with HIM while building a city. Nehemiah must of saw that is was good, he accomplished what GOD had put in his heart to do, he left Jerusalem only to return some time later. Were things the same? Had they changed since he left……….

Bringing the Bible Alive

Nehemiah was governor of Judah for two terms. Nehemiah was absent from Jerusalem for an undetermined amount of time, since he had to ask if he could return back (13:6-7) it was probably not the intention of King Artaxerxes to have him return. The text does not say that he returned as governor or just to take care of the circumstances concerning Tobiah.

The men from Tyre (13:16) were merchants who traded throughout the Mediterranean world. There must have been a colony who had been permitted to operate outside the parameters of Jewish law.

Scripture

While this was taking place, I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king. And after some time I asked leave of the king and came to Jerusalem, and I then discovered the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, preparing for him a chamber in the courts of the house of God. And I was very angry, and I threw all the household furniture of Tobiah out of the chamber. Then I gave orders, and they cleansed the chambers, and I brought back there the vessels of the house of God, with the grain offering and the frankincense. – Nehemiah 13:6-9

Thought For the Day

Today, we are finishing with the book of Nehemiah. Nehemiah has not just been a book on how to get things done, a wall built, a city started, or the thoughts of a great leader. Nehemiah has been a book on how to hear GOD’s call for us to build something, how to launch that call, protect it, expect resistance from satan, and today, maintain that calling. Remember, Nehemiah was just an ordinary person like you or I. GOD called him to help rebuild HIS city.

GOD may put it in your heart to build anything, it does not have to be as spectacular as the Jerusalem wall. It could be a marriage, a friendship, a men’s or women’s group, a church, or a business.

I am sure that in your lifetime GOD is going to put it in your heart to build several things. Today, I wanted to take a look at how to maintain those things that you were called to build, and look to the next project GOD is calling you to.

In chapter 13 we see Nehemiah returning to the city that GOD put in his heart to build. It does not say how long Nehemiah was gone, but, I think it might of been a little too long. After Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem, I see several words in the NIV version that appear more than once; “I rebuked”, “I warned”, and “I Purified”. The people/us are born sinful. It is very easy to fall back into those sinful patterns as Nehemiah found out when he returned and found them holding tithes from the Levites, corruption inside the Temple (Tobiah), and selling and buying on the Sabbath.

Once you start a project and get it running, you have to maintain it. You can not walk away from it, and let it run by itself. If it is your marriage, it will take daily visits and lots of work. If it is a relationship with your son or daughter, it also might take a couple visits a week to keep an open and honest relationship. If it is a friendship that you have developed, it might take a cup of coffee every week to see how that person is doing.

If you are maintaining a business type project like a church or business, Nehemiah has great advise in Chapter 13:13

“I put Shelemiah the priest, Zadok the scribe, and a Levite named Pedaiah in charge of the storerooms and made Hanan son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah, their assistant, because these men were considered trustworthy. They were made responsible for distributing the supplies to their brothers”

Once your project is up and running, it will take time and effort to keep it maintained. It will not maintain itself. Budget time to keep the passion that GOD has put in your heart alive! Have a Blessed day and I hope to see you Tuesday when we start Esther! GOD Bless. 🙂

Closing Prayer

Dear JesusThank You Father for the words and heart of Nehemiah. Father I pray that I will keep the passion going in my life and that I will be open to any appointments that You place on my heart. I pray that I am able to drop what I need to be there where You want me.

I love You Father and I pray in Your Great Name, Amen.

Feeling Far Away From Jesus?

Feeling Far Away From Jesus

After severe opposition, Nehemiah and company, through GOD’s grace finished the wall in 52 amazing days. The city was secure, safe, and they were ready to start to build a community.

Feeling far away from Jesus?

Feeling Far Away From Jesus?

In chapter 7 Nehemiah lists all the men who returned back to the new city and their responsibilities. I know that these lists can be boring or dry at times, but GOD put these names in the Bible to honor them, so take some time to read over them, there are some neat names in there. At the end of chapter 7 we read how some families stepped up and gave tithes to jump start the city (7:70-72).

Chapter 8 tells how all 50,000 attended their first church service. The church service was lead by Ezra, see how these two books are intertwined? Ezra read from the Book of Moses, the Pentateuch (First 5 book of the Bible) and the people worshiped GOD.

Bringing the Bible Alive

The tithes that were given by the heads of families to help start the city were 370 lbs of gold, and 2,220 lbs of silver. Close to 4 million dollars in today’s world (7:70-72)The Water Gate where they gathered to worship was by theGihon Spring. This gave them access to water (8:1).Did you notice the humility of Nehemiah? This was his desire to start the city, through GOD he built the wall, which allowed the city to thrive. But, when it was time to teach the people he did not take that role, it was not his strength. A great example of humility!

In verses 8:13-18 the people were celebrating The Feast of Booths or The Feast of Tabernacles.

Scripture

And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was above all the people, and as he opened it all the people stood. And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God, and all the people answered, “Amen, Amen,” lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground. – Nehemiah 8:5-6

Thought For the Day

I have heard, that the Bible is the most published book we have, but, on the flip side, it is the least read book we have. How SAD! We have this amazing gift from GOD, yet, most of us take it for granted. Take a look at how hungry the people were at Ezra’s first church service.

They did not have publications of the Bible to hand out, they had to attend a gathering to hear the word of the LORD. When they heard the word they lifted up their hands in worship, then, fell face first to the dirt in humility. When they heard the word they were deeply convicted. Their dirt began to turn into mud. But, Ezra, the priests, and the Levites help the people see the grace, mercy, and forgiveness of GOD. Their sadness turned into joy and a celebration to GOD.

You have this amazing book that Ezra reads from (The first 5 books of the Bible). Plus you have 61 more amazing books! When was the last time you Opened the Bible? A year? A month ago? Last week? Yesterday…….. Never? If you want to have a relationship with the GOD of the universe, if you want to see HIM move powerfully in your life, it will NEVER happen if you do not Open the Book. Since I have started to read the Bible everyday…. twice a day, I have been blown away at the knowledge the Holy Spirit has given me. Once you experience a taste of GOD moving in your life, you are addicted. It is the most amazing experience you will ever experience.

If you are not on a reading program we can suggest one. If you can’t find the time to read everything on that program, that is OK, read what you can. If you fall behind do not try and catch up with your reading, just jump to the current day. The point is to spend sometime in The Bible…… Time with Jesus! If you do not have a Bible. Please send us a message on Facebook, it is a gift from GOD. No one should be denied this gift.

The Trowel And The Sword

The Trowel And The Sword

Have you ever created something, only to have it destroyed? If you answered yes, you need the trowel and the sword. Today, we are going to read chapters 4 through 6. To bring you up to speed with the story, the walls that were built to protect Jerusalem the city, the church, and the people was destroyed. The city was destroyed. Nehemiah and a band of believers that were called to rebuild the wall…… really the city, GOD’s city.

The Trowel and The Sword

The Trowel and The Sword

Starting in Chapter 4 Nehemiah starts to have opposition, then in chapter 5 Nehemiah has to take care of an internal problem that came in the way. Chapter 6, Nehemiah saw more resistance to building the wall, even a threat to his life (6:10), but, towards the end of the chapter they finish the wall in 52 days (6:15).

Bringing the Bible Alive

Throughout biblical times the sounding of the trumpet; or shofar, was used for signaling. In Nehemiah’s case, if the shofar was blown, all the people would gather as one, for protection (4:18).

In biblical times people could not go into debt as we can today. They would sell their children into slavery to pay off their debt, hoping to redeem at a later time (5:1-19).

Nehemiah was a leader and business man, he was not a Levite or priest. It would have been wrong for him to go into the temple as he was told to do. He would be breaking a commandment of GOD (6:10)

Scripture

Those who carried burdens were loaded in such a way that each labored on the work with one hand and held his weapon with the other. 18 And each of the builders had his sword strapped at his side while he built. The man who sounded the trumpet was beside me.” – Nehemiah 4:17-18 ESV

Charles Spurgeon

Charles Spurgeon

Thought For the Day

Charles Spurgeon wrote a book, The Sword and the Trowel. I am sure that you know what a sword looks like, but do you know what a trowel looks like? A trowel looks like a pointed spatula. It is a tool that is used while laying brick, it lays the cement between the bricks, it also smoothes and removes the extra cement…… it is used for building things.

So, maybe instead of calling this devotional The Trowel and the Sword, we could call it Build and Protect. Let’s face it, life is work…… it is building things. Whether it is a family, business, friendship, church, marriage, savings account, retirement, you name it. your life is spent building things. Do you protect it?

If you are a Believer, you have an enemy! satan and his band of demons are REAL. They would love nothing more than to tear down ANYTHING that you have spent time building up. Nothing would bring them more joy then to see you discouraged, tired, hopeless, and ready to give up.

So, my question again, are you protecting what you are building? You might ask, how can I protect what I am building. First, without getting spiritual, I believe you need to use common sense. Do you trust the people you are working with? Have you researched your project? Are you making an effort to work on your marriage day by day? If you are dating, are your goals the same?

Second, is your spiritual life firmly planted in Jesus Christ? Are you in constant communication to Jesus all day long? Do you know your Bible? Remember when satan tried to destroy what Jesus was building? (His Church) satan tempted Jesus in the desert, how did Jesus respond? With Scripture!

I will leave you with a couple of closing thoughts that you can take today to think over. What are you building right now? Is it protected? What has GOD called you to build? How can I defend it? These two thoughts should go hand in hand. Please post your comments below.

Everything Starts With Prayer

Everything Starts With Prayer

How do you start a project? I have learned that it starts with prayer. Boy, I love the book of Nehemiah! Nehemiah was an amazing leader. Let me start and give you a little background on the book. Ezra and Nehemiah were orginally written as one book. The time that is was written was 446 BC. Jerusalem had been attacked by the Babaloyins, the city was DESTROYED; like New Orleans. Nehemiah was just an ordinary guy, doing an ordinary job, like you or I, but he allowed GOD to open his heart up and make a huge difference. The time is winter……

Everything Starts With Prayer

Everything Starts With Prayer

Bringing the Bible Alive

As we read the Bible, it always seems so far away, does it not? But, the situations, and the people are a lot like us today.

Take Nehemiah for example, they were a people living in a bad time, their city has just been destroyed as some of our cites are destroyed by situations beyond our control. The people back then were looking for the coming of a Messiah, as we are today. Nehemiah was just an ordinary person, just like you or I, but he opened up his heart to GOD as we should and started with prayer. GOD used him to accomplish an amazing task, as GOD could do in us.

So, next time that you think the Bible was sooooo long ago, really look at it, I am sure you will see things and realize were not much different.

Scripture

When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. Then I said:”O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s house, have committed against you. We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.

“Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.’

“They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand. O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man.” – Nehemiah 1:4-11

Thought For the Day

Now, that I have given you the historical facts of Nehemiah, let me give you the heart of Nehemiah.

Nehemiah is not just another book of the Bible, it is a personal journal of Nehemiah, we need to read it such. It is not just about rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem, it is rebuilding a city, a home. This is GOD’s home here on earth, it was the city that HE was going to set apart and set as an example for all mankind to see.

When Nehemiah heard of the news of Jerusalem (1:3) he broke down and wept, mourned, and fasted. Nehemiah was not saddened for a couple of days, he was saddened and troubled for 3 to 4 months. But, the news that Nehemiah heard was 141 years old! This would be like us getting upset over the news that President Abraham Lincoln died…… it was old news. That is how much Nehemiah cared about the city!

Now, that we have looked at the heart of Nehemiah, let’s look at how he handled the task of rebuilding the city……. He started with prayer. The first thing he did is drop to his knees and PRAY. Not just any prayer, but, a heart filled with love, prayer. In his prayer, Nehemiah exalts GOD, asks to be heard, confesses his and the sins of his people (Notice how he did not put the blame on anyone). Quotes scripture from the promises that GOD had made his servant Moses in Deuteronomy. Then asks GOD to give him success….. what a prayer!

When you are facing a task….. any task. What do you do first? Do you start it with prayer? I would have to say that I would start to plan (Not pray), I would get everything lined up. I think that we all can learn from Nehemiah and how he approached his task, and how he approached GOD in prayer. Let me put a little “Food for thought” in you mind. Nehemiah/GOD accomplished in 52 DAYS….. DAYS what others tried to accomplish for 141 years. Do you think prayer works?

How Can We Pray For You Today?

Closing Prayer

Dear Jesus

Amen for prayer Father. I pray a simple prayer Father. I pray that we can all learn to just pray a simple prayer, not fancy words or thoughts, just love and words that we would ask from a friend sitting right in front of us. Father I pray that we can all just speak to You with an open heart and mind and casual words, words simply to our Father.

I love You and I pray in Your Great Name, Amen

A Time and Season For Everything

A Time and Season For Everything

I Love this yerse. It was written by Solomon who was the wisest man that has lived. King Solomon has everything in life that he wanted, God gave it to him. This passage helps me know that I am normal and the feelings that I am having are normal. A lot of the time I try and change myself…. when I am sad, I say “I cannot be sad, I need to make myself happy. God is OK where ever you are in life. Do not try and push yourself to another season. Be OK where you are at… God is.

You are beautiful in Gods eyes.

You Are Beautiful in Gods Eyes.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

A time to be born and a time to die

A time to plant and a time to uproot

A time to kill and a time to heal

A time to tear down and a time to build

A time to weep and a time to laugh

A time to mourn and a time to dance

A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them

A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing

A time to search and a time to give up

A time to keep and a time to throw away

A time to tear and a time to mend

A time to be silent and a time to speak

A time to love and a time to hate

A time for war and a time for peace

God has made everything beautiful in its time. God has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecc. 3:1-11

Is Our Earth Suffering From Our Sin?

I was thinging about all the disasters  that ravished the earth; tornado in Oklahoma, wildfires, tsunamis, the floods in colorado, I cannot help but to think Is Our Earth Suffering From Our Sin or sinful nature? It seems to me there are more natural disasters than I can remember. But I have heard that these are not the worse storms that we have ever had. Plus I have not been around for 2000 years, was it worse back then? Is it because our social media is stronger and more advanced then ever? Something happens and we see it in real time? Remember hearing when Christ returns the entire world would see it? When I was a kid it was unimaginable, but today it is a reality!

Is Our Earth Suffering?

Is Our Earth Suffering?

So where do we go from here? Well, whenever there are questions about life we should turn to the Bible. Here are two verses that I found:

“For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.”Romans 8:20-22

“So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” To the woman he said, I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it, Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” Genesis 3:14-19

So, what are your thoughts? Is the earth suffering from our sin, greed and sinful ways?

Stuck In Sorrow

Have you ever felt the feeling of sorrow and you are just stuck in it? Today, we finish with chapter 10, which finishes the book of Ezra. Chapter 10 tells how the people of Judah, after disobeying GOD and intermarrying with different tribes, ask for forgiveness.

Are You Stuck In Sorrow?

Are You Stuck In Sorrow?

October through February is the cold and rainy season in Judah and Jerusalem. Temperatures in the forties would not be usual (10:13).

Bringing the Bible Alive

This is a picture of Jerusalem at night. The people were ready to sacrifice for their sins, but they felt that holding it in the open square would dampen the spirits of the people, plus standing out their in the cold might have raised tempers. That is why they opted to let the officials act for the whole community.

Scripture

While Ezra prayed and made confession, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, a very great assembly of men, women, and children, gathered to him out of Israel, for the people wept bitterly. And Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, of the sons of Elam, addressed Ezra: “We have broken faith with our God and have married foreign women from the peoples of the land, but even now there is hope for Israel in spite of this. Therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all these wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God, and let it be done according to the Law. Arise, for it is your task, and we are with you; be strong and do it.” – Ezra 10:1-4

Thought For the Day

As I was reading this passage of scripture, I could not help but to chuckle. I guess that I was laughing at myself. How many times have I buried my head in my pillow, just stuck in sorrow. I would feel that I have sinned yet again, and how was GOD ever going to forgive me….. Poor me….. there is no way that HE could forgive me for this terrible sin that I did. Until a “Barnabus” would come alot and help me see the light, and encouraged me to get past this and move on.

This is the same situation that I feel Ezra was in. He was stuck in his sorrow for the people that he was leading. It says that he was weeping, and throwing himself down before GOD. He must of made such a spectacle of himself that a large crowd gathered around him. For awhile they joined with him in sorrow, but then an innocent soul spoke up and says, Yes, we have sinned, but it is not the end of the world is it? There is hope, let’s move past this.

I can imagine at one time in your life you have felt overwhelmed. You want to do the right thing, but it seems like every time you try, it ends up in sin……AGAIN. Paul in Romans 7:25 said it so well. Paul expresses in verse 15, “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do“. He then goes on in in verse 24 to call himself a “Wretched man.” Stop and think; Paul, this amazing example of a Christian leader is frustrated due to the sin he is stuck in sorrow, and goes on to call himself wretched.

You and I are going to sin, we are human, fallen creatures. We have two choices when we sin, let it stop us and feel sorry and sorrow for ourselves, OR you can repent for your sins, KNOW that Christ forgives you, and move on. You are white as snow, your sins are thrown into the deepest oceans. Stand up, hold your head up high, and keep fighting the good fight for Him!

Closing Prayer

Dear Jesus

Thank You Father for letting me hold my head up and know that You forgive me. Father I pray that I do well for You though and I pray that I always seek Your ways and not mine. Thank You for loving and caring so much and always being right by my side.

I love You and I pray in Jesus Name, Amen
