The Earth Has Nothing I Desire

The Earth Has Nothing I Desire

Psalm 73:25-26 is another Kingdom principle. Our human nature is to desire. We have desires that need to be filled by something. The world is full of “Things” to satisfy these desires, and most of us do try to fullfil these desires with what the world has to offer. Relationships, sex, possesions, technology, work, the list could go on and on, and I am sure you could think of some of the desires you have tried or are still struggling with.

The problems with these desires, is that when you obtain them, they will satisfy you for awhile, but the craving for more slowly comes on again. Jesus Christ is the only one that will satisfy your need for more. I know it sounds strange that this Being, could cure your desires, but it is the truth. The closer that we come to Christ, the more you want, the more He will give. It is a relationship that you will never get your fill of, you are always finding a deeper area, and Jesus always gives more and more.

If you are not at a point in your life where you can say, “All I desire is Jesus” I would encourage you to go deeper with Jesus, seek Him and He will show Himself to you, There is no feeling like being totally satisfied with your desire. Have a wonderful day In Christ! – Jim

25 Whom have I in heaven but you?

And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

26 My flesh and my heart may fail,

but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. – Psalm 73:25-26

Let God Bear Your Burdens

Let God Bear Your Burdens

Let God Bear Your Burdens

I believe that some of us have this pre-conceived notion that GOD is up in the heavens looking down on us, watching us, and judging us. When we sin or are going through a rough time, HE may say AHA! You deserve what you are going through! Here is your punishment, now you have to suffer the consequences. Then He goes about being almighty again, waiting for us to step out of line again. That could not be further from the truth.

When I read the above verse, it tells me of a much different GOD. In Psalm 68:18 David praises GOD for bearing our burdens. There are three points that David wanted to make. First off, GOD bears our burdens daily, not weekly, monthly, or when HE feels like it. HE is there with us day by day.

Second, GOD bears our burdens. I looked up bears in Strongs Concordance; in Hebrew it means to carry, lift up, forgive. To me, GOD is right with us in our burdens. HE does not set himself apart, or keep any distance between us, HE is right there in the thick of things.

Third, is HE bears our burdens. “Burdens” goes deeper than sin. Sin is something that we know is wrong, yet we choose it anyway. Burdens are everyday heartaches, pain, ridicule, and sufferings that we may or may not have caused. God is with us for every emotion, pain, and hurt we have.

GOD chooses to do this. The Creator of the Universe chooses to share every tear, heartache, and pain with you….. everyday, moment by moment. HE loves you that much and wants to be with you that much. Where ever you are in life you need to KNOW that GOD is with you, sharing every emotion day by day. Maybe you feel like GOD is not sharing your burdens because you are still in those burdens. HE knows you and your future and loves you, and knows that these burdens are going to produce amazing results.

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. – Psalm 68:19

The Meaning Of The Christmas Tree

The meaning of the Christmas tree has become a symbol of the spirit of Christmas in many countries and many, if not all, our homes. What led Christians to adopt this custom?

The Meaning Of The Christmas Tree

The Meaning Of The Christmas Tree

The meaning of the Christmas tree is first mention in history of fir trees used in Christmas celebrations was in 12th century Germany. A fir tree was used in mystery plays as the so-called “paradise” tree. These dramas were held outside during the Advent and Christmas seasons and the fir tree symbolized the tree of life in the Garden of Eden. The evergreen fir tree is a sign of hope throughout the winter season  hope in the promise that the rest of nature too will awaken to new life in the coming spring. The message of this symbolism was simple: through Jesus Christ we too have hope for everlasting life. Indeed, Jesus Christ has become our tree of life  the paradise tree. As such the evergreen Christmas tree reminds us that even though our earthly season must come to an end, yet we will live through the grace of our Lord Jesus.

The meaning of the Christmas tree starteduse of the indoor Christmas tree early in the 17th century, in Strasbourg,  spreading from there throughout Germany and then into northern Europe. In 1841, Albert the German born husband of Queen Victoria, first introduced the Christmas tree custom to Great Britain. He had the first decorated Christmas tree set up in Windsor Castle in 1841. The first Christmas trees in the New World were introduced by Hessian soldiers in 1776. Later German immigrants brought the tradition into wider use in the US. The custom of decorating a community tree began in the early 1900’s and is a popular custom in the US today.

What is the meaning of the Christmas tree? What is the symbolism of the Christmas tree today? Well first of all, the fir tree is an evergreen it does not die or fade away or lose its needles in the winter. In this sense it has soon come to represent the immortality of the resurrected Christ.

The meaning of the lights in the Christmas tree also have a deeper meaning. Originally the lights used were candles, of course. The candles too were meant to symbolize Christ, specifically his self-giving love and gift of life to us. As many of us know, the candle provides light and warmth as it consumes its own substance, the wax. So, too, did Jesus give of his own substance his life so that we might find divine light. And when we have found divine light for ourselves, we too are enabled through the power of the Holy Spirit to give of ourselves to others. After all, Christmas is the feast of love, where we share gifts with each other as Christ shared the gift of life with us.

Are You Honest With God?

Are You Honest With God?

Are You Honest With God?

Psalm 64 is written by David. I have always admired David’s honesty with GOD. The fact that GOD called David a man after HIS own heart has made me want to know why GOD made such a bold statement, that HE didn’t make about anyone else.

David had a relationship with GOD like one that you would have with a very good friend. I would imagine that GOD was his best friend other than the friendship that he had with Jonathan. A good friendship means being honest with the person, opening up your heart for all kinds of emotion. Knowing that your friend will accept you no matter what. We see evidence of this openness with the first verse. David asks for GOD to hear his complaint.

I bet if you talked to some people about complaining to GOD, they might tell you that you should be careful, that GOD may get angry at you for your complaints, and punish you.

Do you have that kind of relationship that David had with GOD? A totally open and honest friendship. One that you would not be afraid to speak your mind to GOD, you can do this in confidence due to the fact that you praise and worship HIM daily. When I became sick I was very angry at GOD, and I screamed and cried out to HIM many times. I know by me not holding my feelings inside, but expressing them to GOD, has helped the relationship that I have today.

He truly is my best friend, I love HIM more than my life, each day I wake and am excited for what HE has planned for me. We draw closer and closer each day, I never thought I would ever have this amazing relationship. The only way that I could have this kind of feeling is to start with an open relationship with GOD. If you do not have this kind of relationship with HIM, what is holding you back?

Psalm 64

1 Hear me, O God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy.

2 Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from that noisy crowd of evildoers.

3 They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their words like deadly arrows.

4 They shoot from ambush at the innocent man; they shoot at him suddenly, without fear.

5 They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say, “Who will see them ?”

6 They plot injustice and say, “We have devised a perfect plan!” Surely the mind and heart of man are cunning.

7 But God will shoot them with arrows; suddenly they will be struck down.

8 He will turn their own tongues against them and bring them to ruin; all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.

9 All mankind will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done.

10 Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in him; let all the upright in heart praise him!

The True Meaning of Christmas

The True Meaning of Christmas

The true meaning of Christmas is much more than presents, Christmas trees, and candy. The true meaning of Christmas started over 2000 years ago in a little town call Bethlehem. It started with a man and a women who were forging into an unknown future on a promise of the coming King. This King held the promise that He would save His people from the oppression of Herod. Scared, excited, and full of wonder this man and women pressed into the events that changed our world for eternty. The true meaning of Christmas as told by Luke.

True Meaning of Christmas

“Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.” ~ Luke

The Birth of Jesus – The True Meaning of Christmas

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. Luke 2:1-20

Do You Fear God?

Do You Fear God?

Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart. – Psalm 37:4

Do You Fear God?

Do You Fear God?

The verse above is one of my favorite’s. Yes, I have a lot of them, but this one truly means alot to me because I have/am living it. It is very true! Today’s devotional is a little different and I hope that you like it. 🙂

I have to tell you a story that happened to me today, and through this story you might be challenged or maybe it will confirm some things for you.

My parents are visiting us, they got into town on Saturday. We are having a wonderful time with them, and when they come visit with us, spending time with them is my priority. Sunday we went to church, the beach, fellowship, and ate dinner. When they left I knew that I had about 3 hours worth of work still to complete, plus doing this devotional.

My first thought was to not do the devotional, I know that all of you would understand, and I know that Jesus would understand? Right? I started to feel guilty, like maybe Jesus would punish me, or maybe He would be mad at me. Then I started to think that I do not want to do it just because I do not want Him mad at me with the fear of punishment. I was torn on what to do. While I was doing some of my busy work for our business I had two thoughts, and maybe these will speak to you or maybe you will find yourself fitting into one or the other.

We should not do things out of fear for Christ. GOD is not a GOD of fear, HE is a GOD of love. We should do things for Him because we LOVE him, serve Him, and have this sense of appreciation for the huge sacrifice that He made for us.

Being a Christian is not living a life of comfort. Yes, we do have times of comfort and peace, but if your life is all comfort, I would question, are you living the life GOD called you to live. GOD pushes us to grow here on earth and in our faith with HIM, and in my experiences, growing can be uncomfortable and sometimes painful.

GOD does not live our 9 to 5 work life schedule, HE lives in a realm that I am sure would amaze me. So, GOD I am sure will call you to do something that will not be the best time for you, but it is the best time for HIM. And I know that GOD will call you to do something for HIM, HE will meet you there. Like this devotional, I do love my sleep and comfort, BUT, I love Jesus more. I know that someday I will be in the presence of Jesus and I want to hold my head up high, and KNOW in my heart, that I stepped out of my comfort zone and did things that HE wanted me to do.

The other thought is that I have seen people use the principle above to hide from their problems. For example they have a problem with their marriage and instead of fixing it, they serve in the church while their marriage falls apart. This is not what GOD wants! Yes, HE wants you to serve, but getting a divorce is not in HIS plan. Your live’s priorities should be Jesus, family, ministry.

If you are a parent, GOD has called you to be a parent. You have a huge responsibility to raise Godly children and it is no easy task! If you are married, GOD called you to be married. If you are single, you have a church family that involves other human lives, GOD called you to love your brother and sister.
